Alstom Talk: Smart modernisation - When the second life begins

Trains have an average lifetime of around 30 years, and overtime they can have issues with performance and efficiency, their interiors can become outdated, and they can fail to live up to today’s standards. To improve existing trains, Alstom offers various smart modernisation solutions for all types of rolling stock.

At InnoTrans 2024, Aren Serik, Modernisation Solutions Development Director at Alstom, gave an Alstom Talk about our smart modernisation solutions and how we help our customers find the best solutions to support improve performance, efficiency, and passenger experience for their existing trains. Aren used the example of two customers who we supported with our smart modernisation solutions: Avanti West Coast in the UK, where we added various solutions to bring the train up to date and improve comfort, accessibility and passenger experience, and Renfe in Spain, where we added a driver advisory system to improve energy efficiency.

Alstom offers over 100 smart modernisation solutions for trains, enhancing performance, energy efficiency, passenger experience, and digitalisation. We assist customers in selecting the best solutions through consulting services, identifying fleet pain points, and recommending tailored approaches depending on operational requirements.
