Alstom wins the Assolombarda Awards 2025 in the "Digitalization" category with the Control Room project at the Sesto San Giovanni site

The Control Room at Alstom's Sesto San Giovanni site is a benchmark for the digitalization and optimization of railway maintenance. Leveraging Big Data and Business Analytics, the facility enables real-time monitoring of the health status of approximately 500 trains, including regional, high-speed, and locomotive fleets. This approach has significantly reduced failures, optimized maintenance times, and increased fleet availability, ensuring high standards of safety and comfort for passengers. The Control Room's monitoring system employs advanced algorithms for predictive data analysis, allowing potential anomalies to be identified before they turn into failures. A key aspect of the project is cybersecurity, with the implementation of encrypted protocols, dedicated networks, and advanced authentication systems, fully compliant with European cyber-resilience regulations.

The Alstom site in Sesto San Giovanni is a center for the production, repair, and maintenance of subsystems and components for rolling stock. It stands out for various specializations: it designs and produces traction and auxiliary converters for high-speed trains, regional trains, trams, and metros, as well as control desks and fire protection systems for high-speed and regional trains. It also performs repairs on electronic systems and railway subsystems and provides spare parts for the entire range of rolling stock.

Additionally, the site hosts an innovative 3D printing hub dedicated to producing spare parts for the railway sector, equipped with advanced polymer printing technologies and tools for reverse engineering activities. Recognized as an "Industrial Production Hub," it serves as an official supplier of spare parts for major railway operators.

Thanks to its expertise and collaboration with other Alstom sites, the Sesto San Giovanni site is targeting the global market.
