Executive replaces Michel Boccaccio, who becomes Strategic Advisor to Alstom Brazil
September 2, 2024 - Alstom, a global leader in smart and sustainable mobility, announced today that Bernard Peille is its new Managing Director for Latin America. Peille‘s appointment is effective immediately. He replaces Michel Boccaccio, whose 40-year career at Alstom spanned several sectors and corporate functions, and who will now transition to a role as Strategic Advisor to Alstom Brazil.
At Alstom since 1989, Bernard Peille has over 35 years of experience in the railway industry. He brings significant experience in design, industrial plant development, services, rolling stock management and project management for high-speed, regional and urban trains. Peille had been Alstom’s Managing Director for South Africa for four years. He also served as Chief Operating Officer of the Gibela RF Rail Transport Consortium (Pty) Ltd, an Alstom joint venture in South Africa, and led a number of Alstom operations in different countries.
“It is with great satisfaction and enthusiasm that I take up the position of Managing Director of Alstom for Latin America,” says Mr. Peille. “We are facing a great and inspiring challenge: to revolutionize and expand the railway industry across the Latin American continent. Our strategy is robust and aligned with the region’s economic development. Our commitment to valuing local content is not limited to production - it also encompasses job creation, professional training and sustainable growth. I am confident that Alstom's actions in Latin America will continue to have a significant and lasting impact on the regional economy.”
Peille has relocated to and will be based in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
Michel Boccaccio has held several leadership positions in France and Brazil during his career at Alstom. In a career with Alstom that began in 1985 , he has worked in commercial, financial and operational roles. In 2005, Boccaccio assumed leadership of Power Hydro for Latin America, based in São Paulo. In 2013, still based in São Paulo, he took over the leadership of the rail transport business for Latin America and in 2015, following the global negotiation of the Power activity with GE, he was appointed President of Alstom Brazil. Since 2013, Alstom's rail activities in Latin America have grown significantly in Brazil, Chile, Mexico, Panama and the Dominican Republic. He has led the business in the region, building a solid team of local and global talent and contributing to the development of mobility throughout the region.
The transition between Peille and Boccaccio has been underway for the past several months.
