May 7, 2024 – Alstom, global leader in smart and sustainable mobility, has received, in Canada, the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Commitment Label, Confirmed, which is the second highest rating out of four possible levels. This recognition for its alignment with the ISO 26000 international standard comes from the independent third-party Groupe AFNOR (Association Française de Certification) and demonstrates Alstom Canada’s commitment to sustainable and responsible operations.
Canada is the first country in the Alstom Americas Region to recieve this certification. AFNOR’s assessment evaluates how CSR is embedded through the company’s strategic priorities, functions, and processes, as well as external stakeholders. The assessed criteria were defined according to eight central themes: Vision and Governance, Integration of social responsibility, Human resources and labour practices, Production methods, Regional presence and community involvement, as well as Environmental, Social, and Economic indicators.
“In addition to our good governance, the report highlights the impact of our new Green Innovation Centre, our initiatives to diversify the industry including attracting and developing more women at all levels across our organization, and our Community Ambassadors who lead CSR projects on our sites and in their communities,” Michael Keroullé, President, Alstom Americas. “This label is a testimony to how our employees and our leadership in Canada are embracing our social responsibilities.”
The AFNOR report states that “Alstom Canada’s CSR values are real and concrete, and its managers provide the appropriate leadership on a daily basis. They rely on a motivated team mobilized in a dynamic and passionate way around CSR themes. In conclusion, Alstom Canada deploys a CSR approach following the recommendations of ISO 26000, in a remarkable and dynamic way.”
Canada is the 8th country where Alstom has received the label, joining Alstom in Australia, Belgium, France, India, Italy, the United Kingdom and Spain. Alstom aims to expand the number of countries covered by the label to 12 by 2025. As a world-leader in sustainable rail mobility solutions, Alstom’s CSR principles are deeply embedded into its corporate culture.
