19 September 2023 – Alstom, global leader in smart and sustainable mobility, has been awarded a frame agreement worth around €107 million with Trafikverket, the Swedish Transport Administration, for the delivery of modular point machines designed to improve track stability for passenger comfort and reduce total cost of ownership by allowing automatic track maintenance on Swedish train lines.
Alstom will provide point machines to Trafikverket for the next 15 years, with the option to extend the contract for up to 25 years. The start of possible call-offs from the agreement begins in October 2024.

Alstom will supply two types of modular in-tie point machines to Trafikverket, suitable for conventional and high-speed rail lines up to 300 km/h. These electromechanical in-sleeper point machines have been designed to operate up to 1,000,000 switches in various conditions and environments, eliminating clearance constraints for installation in tunnels, underground, and on viaducts.
With 40 years of expertise, Alstom offers a comprehensive range of point machine solutions for conventional, in-tie and high-speed line applications. These point machines are certified and service-proven in Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Italy with over 2,800 units installed.
