February 16, 2022 – Alstom Spain has obtained certification of compliance with the ISO 26000 standard, related to integrating sustainable development into the company's strategy. The certifying company, AFNOR, has carried out audits in the work centers located in Madrid and Barcelona to establish compliance with the standard in two of the company's main centers in Spain.
The ISO 26000 standard brings together a set of guidelines aimed at integrating social responsibility management into the strategy of organizations. In this way, it is possible to unify criteria in sustainable development and encourage companies and entities to develop instruments and initiatives that go beyond legal compliance, promoting and enhancing the transparency of organizations. In order to obtain the certificate of compliance, it is necessary to demonstrate the application of the principles of social responsibility in aspects such as company governance, respect for human rights, labor practices, environment, fair operating practices, treatment of consumers, and participation in community development, among others.
Leopoldo Maestu, CEO and President of Alstom Spain, has stated, "By obtaining this distinction, Alstom Spain reiterates its commitment to the objectives set out in the Alstom in Motion 2025 strategy, focused on promoting the decarbonization of mobility, being an employer committed to our employees, generating a positive impact on society and acting as a responsible business partner".
