Alstom supported 1,492 jobs in Morocco last year, according to Ernst & Young report

Alstom has been actively engaged in addressing Morocco’s growing mobility needs, while also supporting the country’s industrial plans and positioning Morocco as part of Alstom’ global supply chain. Alstom produces electrical cabinet and harnesses and soon on-board transformers in Fez, that are used in rolling stock delivered to customers around the world. The plant in Fez is an important part of Alstom’s global supply chain and equips over 20 projects a year.

The solutions selected by our customers have a considerable impact on the day to day lives of Moroccan residents and are an integral part of the modernisation of the country’s rail network. The 12 Avelia Euroduplex purchased by ONCF were used to introduce the first Very High-Speed Line in Africa in 2018 to connect Tangier to Casablanca in just 2 hours and 10 mins.  Alstom delivered the first Citadis trams to Rabat and Casablanca in 2011 with 190 delivered to date. ONCF selected 77 Prima Locomotives for its modular platform to allow operators flexible solutions freight, passenger and mixed operations. Today, 1,310 linear rail kilometers are equipped with Alstom signalling solutions. E&Y estimated that passenger trains in Morocco have 89% less gCO2/passenger.km compared to cars and the country will see further reduction on Co2 emissions as they increase the use of renewables in the energy mix.
