Trafford Chief Executive Theresa Grant visited the site of Carrington Power Station to see how the construction works, which is within Trafford Councils boundaries,  is progressing.

Accompanied by Executive Councillor for Economic Growth and Planning, Cllr Michael Hyman and Richard Roe, Director of Growth and Regulatory Services, the visitors were provided with a detailed briefing by consortium members Alstom and DF, before going on a guided tour of the construction site.

Trafford Council was a statutory consultee during the permitting stage for the new power station.

Theresa Grant said: Alstom and DF have been excellent partners to work with on this major development.  Despite the scale of the work, very little impact has been perceived by the local community.  We will continue to work with them to ensure the local community can benefit in terms of jobs, contracts and donations which to date have been well received.

Cllr Hyman said: As a member of the Carrington Power Local Liaison Group, I have been kept abreast of the developments, but to see the power station in all its glory was incredible.  Their open approach to sharing detailed information about the project has been welcomed by all associated with the development.

The visitors took the opportunity to view the site from the steel staircases adjacent to the chimney stacks, and agreed the views across the site were worth the effort.

We were pleased that Theresa and her team took the time to visit our site and took part in some interesting discussions about further benefits to the local community going forward into operation, said Rainer Lueoend, Project Manager.

The station is currently in the construction phase, with commissioning due to start later this year.  During the commissioning phase, the owner/operators of the site ESB, will start to mobilise their operational staff.
