Alstoms UK signalling joint venture Signalling Solutions Ltd (SSL) has been awarded a contract worth 54 million by Network Rail to deliver a signalling system for Crossrail East Anglia section.

The contract covers the design, manufacture, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of the signalling control system, using Alstoms industry-leading Smartlock interlocking technology.

The work will cover the Pudding Mill Lane Junction on the Great Eastern Main Line in the east of London, through to Shenfield in Essex. With preliminary work already underway, the project is due for completion in August 2018.

Were delighted to be able to bring our Smartlock technology to another part of the Crossrail project after our work, through SSL, on the Crossrail West Inner project. With our ATC[1] joint venture also starting work on the Crossrail tunnels, were very much at the heart of this project said Terence Watson, UK Managing Director of Alstom Transport
