Present in 60 countries, Alstom Transport has developed a local approach to its customers to have the best understanding of their requirements; they have their own perspective of their domestic markets and of their regulatory constraints and are now increasingly asking their suppliers to build local industrial content.

This flexibility enables Alstom to adapt its local operational resources to local demand, resulting in different solutions a joint venture, strategic partnerships or the setting up of an Alstom industrial site

This is the case for example in South Africa at Dunnottar, in the suburbs of Johannesburg, where Gibela, a joint venture composed of Alstom and its local partners, will be supplying PRASA with 600 XTrapolis Mega suburban trains, technical assistance and parts management for an 18-year period.

In the Kazakhstan capital, Astana, Alstom is also producing in its factory shared with TMH  and KTZ , KZ8A freight and KZ4AT passenger locomotives.

At its site at Sri City in India, Alstom is producing in-situ metros for Chennai.

These three cases are some of the examples being showcased on the Alstom stand at InnoTrans, providing an excellent illustration of Alstoms close relations with its customers on all continents in places where Alstom is assisting local industrial development and creating jobs.
