Last week, Alstom Foundation and Instituto Aromeiazero representatives signed the public notice that formalizes the partnership between the institutions. The social project, an initiative of the Institute and Casa do Zezinho, aims to encourage children and young people from the outskirts of São Paulo, capital, to use the bicycle as a means of transport, leisure and work.

Started in 2011, Pedala Zezinho relies on the concept that the bicycle is not only an environmentally friendly alternative transportation, but also a form of social inclusion and quality of life. With the support of Alstom Foundation, the project organizers intend to finance the training of a class, providing during six months, activities such as: mechanics class, bicycle advocacy, traffic education, sustainability, among others.

“The expectation of Aromeiazero and Casa do Zezinho with such partnership is to expand the project, not only regarding the number of people impacted, but mainly in terms of quality of training that we can provide. Alstom Foundation support is a signal that we are on track and also a recognition, after all, we were chosen among projects from all over the world”, says Murilo Casagrande, one of the creators of the project and director of Instituto Aromeiazero.

Rodrigo Mendes, Alstom employee who indicated the project, reports that “it is a joy supporting a project that benefits children and adolescents from Parque Santo Antônio community, a place very close to where I grew up. I admire Pelada Zezinho philosophy that not only encourages the practice of sports, but also makes us rethink about urban mobility issue”.

Since Alstom is a global supplier in generation and transmission of clean energy and sustainable solutions for rail transport, the company and its employees collaborate to improve the quality of life of the surrounding communities close to its operating units.
