Alstom makes breakthrough in wall bushings for UHVDC projects

Alstoms global cutting-edge technology has marked an additional milestone. Wall bushings  of 800 kV and 400 kV have been successfully manufactured and delivered to State Grid Corporation of China (SGCC), one of Chinas main electrical utilities. The units have been designed for China Xiloudu-Zhexi 800 kV Ultra High Voltage Current (UHVDC) transmission line and are already in operation.

The project aims to satisfy the growing electricity demands of the countrys Eastern provinces. The power generated by Xiloudu Hydro Power Plant in Sichuan province will be transported to Jinhuan City in Zheijang province through a 1,671 km long transmission line.

Despite the projects high-voltage grade, Alstoms bushing team in Milan (Italy) has successfully managed the challenge and completed the project ahead schedule. Today, we are a world leading supplier of bushings, able to manufacture equipment up to 1 100 kV AC and 800 kV DC, said Michel Serra, Alstom Grid Senior Vice President for China and East Asia Pacific Region.
