The conference is a proven platform for an open exchange and dialogue on a range of topics including operational experience, main priorities for the GT13E2 fleet and technology solutions to meet the future operational challenges.
Users from 22 different countries attended this year’s conference
The first day of the conference consisted of Alstom presentations including an update on the latest performance-enhancing GT13E2 MXL2 upgrade package, solutions addressing the need for higher operational flexibility, advances in reconditioning, EHS and outage excellence.
Alstom’s service solutions for the GT13E2 fleet as well as customer specific experiences were presented during the two-day conference.
A highlight of the day was the revealing of a complete set of ex-service GT13E2 MXL2 turbine hardware parts. The customers were impressed by the excellent condition of these hot gas path turbine parts and the very reliable operational performance reported by Centrica.
Customers were impressed by the excellent condition of the GT13E2 MXL2 hot gas path turbine parts that had operated commercially in a highly cyclic operation mode for the last 2 years.
The second day featured customer presentations on their specific GT13E2 experiences while the final day was devoted to a Q&A session and workshops on topics of critical importance to our customers.
In the workshops and the Q&A session, customers were able to interact closely with Alstom’s technical experts to share their views, concerns and requirements for future developments. For our customers, optimising outage costs and duration whilst at the same time maintaining the highest quality and EHS standards emerged as a key requirement.
Plant operational flexibility was another key theme – especially for European operators faced with an increasingly demanding and competitive market. Alstom is responding to this market demand with solutions to extend their load range, ensure emissions compliant low load operation, optimise start-up and provide improved grid support.
The conference was rounded-off with a visit to South Humber Bank power plant, where the first GT13E2 MXL2 was installed two years ago. In May this year two further upgrades were completed, together with the installation of AEV burners to further improve the operational flexibility of the plant.
The conference was once again was a great opportunity for Alstom to strengthen partnerships by listening to our customers to better understand their current and future needs in today’s complex global power generation markets.
