Alstom finished the frame of the stator of the first generator unit of Belo Monte power plant, in Brazil. This frame is considered the largest, in diameter, ever manufactured by Alstom at its Taubaté unit. The approximate measures are 23 meters diameter and 4.3 meter height, and its weight is approximately 156 tons.
This is an extremely important piece of equipment, as it composes the generator of the machine and has the function of sustaining the core and the rolling of the stator.
The Belo Monte project has been marked by countless production differentials to Alstom. To our team, these landmarks are motivational and important to maintain the quality and efficiency of the delivery of our projects, adds Marcelo Ferrarezi, Belo Monte Project Director.
The equipment should arrive at Belo Monte plant in around 80 days.
About Alstoms scope in the project: In January 2012, Alstom, the leader of the consortium formed by the German company Voith and the Austrian company Andritz, was chosen to supply 14 Francis turbine-generator sets of 611 MW each and six Bulbo turbine-generator sets. Alstom will supply seven Francis turbine-generator sets, hydromechanical equipment, armored busbars and gas insulated substations (GIS) to the eighteen generator units of Belo Monte plant.
