2013 saw a successful year for Alstom in China with confirmation of the Final Acceptance Certificate for Ling Ao Unit 4 by CNPEC. The warranty period for Ling Ao II encompassing Units 3 and 4 was thus successfully completed with the plant operating at full capacity and above guaranteed values.

When entering commercial operation in 2010-11, Ling Ao II in addition to the co-located Daya Bay and Ling Ao I units made the Guangdong province host one of the most powerful nuclear power plants in the world, with more than 6000 MW installed.

Since the signature of Ling Ao II, Alstoms presence has been strengthened with notably contracts for Hongyanhe, Ningde, Taishan, Fuqing, Fangjiashan.  The commissioning of the different units is taking place on schedule.

Hongyanhe Unit 1 and Ningde Unit 1 have entered commercial operation in 2013, both working at full capacity and exceeding performance guarantees. And, Ningde Unit 2 sent its first electricity to the grid on 4 January 2014 and it becomes the 20th largest reactor supplying the country.

Alstom has deployed in China its most advanced turbine and generator products, as well as other nuclear products including emergency diesel generators, pumps and liquid purification equipment. In particular, the successful strategic partnership with Dongfang Electric Company (DEC) based on the world-class Alstom steam turbine technology has recently been further extended to a wider range of reactors to include the AP 1000 reactor family, adding to the experience built on CPR1000 and EPR reactors.

Similarly, Alstom is working closely with the countrys main plant developers and end customers on these projects, which is a key success factor.

"These strong partnerships and successfully executed projects demonstrate how well Alstom has brought together its global expertise, manufacturing capability and local understanding," says Philippe Cochet, President Alstom Thermal Power.
