Alstom Grid and its Russian partner launch new rectifiers for the world's largest aluminum-smelters

The Joint Venture "Alstom Grid - Rusal Electroengineering" has developed and launched the series of rectifier units for rectifier groups of the world's largest aluminum-smelters: Bratsk, which capacity exceeds 1 million tons of aluminum per year each. The design was developed entirely by design team of the JV taking in consideration all the requirements of the end customer and has incorporated many years of experience in the design and operation of such kind of equipment. For example, the overall dimensions and connections of the equipment allow to revamp substation without any change in the existing bus bar and premises. The use of modern element base and maximum possible localization of production allowed to develop the equipment with high performance and reliability with a quite attractive price. Before the start of series production the preproduction samples were manufactured and thoroughly tested; they confirmed their high performance, and helped to make a number of refinements in the design and production technology.
It's not a secret that in the current economic situation the establishment of own production is not always justified. Therefore it was decided to organize the production based on a partner company. By mutual efforts the production processes were aligned with the strict quality requirements of Alstom, logistic lines conformed. The unique testing laboratory allows to conduct all the complex of tests according Russian and international standards, and the proximity of the enterprise allows to supervise the technological process at all stages.
Therefore, at present time the JV "Alstom Grid - Rusal Electroengineering" is able to develop a flexible solution to manufacturee rectifiers for the need of Rusal and other clients in Russia.
