Its Party Time at Broadoak

Partington and Carrington Youth Partnership (PCYP) had special visitors at their Christmas party at Broadoak School in December. Representatives from the consortium partnership at Carrington Power Station (Alstom and DF) came along to the celebration to provide a cheque for £1000 to the PCYP for their Junior Project.

Set up in 2003, the PCYP has been recognised for its contribution towards tackling antisocial behaviour and was formed after a number of local agencies recognised the link between the lack of facilities for young people and antisocial behaviour and set about to find a solution.

Organisations and agencies involved in the Partington & Carrington Youth Partnership are Screamin Wheels, Partington Housing Association, Trafford Sports Development, TUF*C, Trafford Youth Services, The Childrens Society, Trafford Community Leisure Trust, Esc@pe, Broadoak School, Partington and Carrington Childrens Centre, CYPS, Trafford YOT, GMP Community Support Officers, Youth Inclusion Support Panel, Trafford Housing Trust and P.A.Y.P.

Tamzin Allen, Education Welfare Officer at Trafford Council said The junior project is for primary age young people aged 8-11 years old, and it is ran by 8 junior volunteers aged 15-19 years old who live in the local community, two youth service apprenticeships and qualified youth worker. In the sessions we have activities ranging from sports, arts and crafts, drama, dance and team building games and we provide the juniors with refreshments. The project takes place every Monday 5.30pm-8pm at Broadoak School. It has been sustainable for the last three years and we have received funding for this project from Community First and Trafford Housing Trust, Blue Sci and Trafford Council. The kind donation from the consortium partners will go towards organising events, room hire, refreshments and various equipment.
