Engineering giant Alstom launches search for 2014 UK apprentices and graduates

International engineering company Alstom has launched its 2014 campaign to find 32 new apprentices and 17 new graduates.

The company is looking for eight apprentices and four graduates for its Transport division (across the UK, including Preston), 12 apprentices and eight graduates for its Grid division (all based in Stafford), and 12 apprentices and five graduates for its Power division (based across a number of locations, Ashby-De-La-Zouch).

Terence Watson, Alstoms UK President, said: Its vital to our business that we develop the next generation of engineers who can help us keep the countrys lights on through the UKs power stations and grid networks, and passengers moving on our railways.

Alstom offer three and four-year apprenticeships, including study at local colleges as well as extensive on-the-job training at power stations, on Grid projects and at the companys Transport centres.

All applications for trainee positions with Alstom should be made through the Brilliant Thinking website www.brilliant-thinking.co.uk. All candidates will undergo rigorous testing and assessment procedures.

The company also operates a STEM ambassadors programme designed to encourage young people to consider engineering as a career, and currently has 85 employees regularly visiting schools and events to talk about potential career paths.
