Alstom, represented by its Grid Sector has signed a contract with Matrinchã Transmissora de Energia (TP Norte) S.A., the company formed by COPEL and State Grid China Corporation (SGCC), to supply 500 kV high voltage equipment for the Paranaíta, Claudia, Paranatinga and Ribeirãozinho substations. The total contract is worth approximately 40 million.

Teles Pires Transmission will transport energy from hydro power plants, including the Teles Pires power plant, located in the central region of Brazil (Mato Grosso State) to the Southeast.

The 500 kV equipment, including circuit breakers, disconnectors, instrument transformers and reactance will be manufactured and delivered locally from Alstoms Canoas (reactance) and Itajubá (high voltage equipment) factories. Alstoms turnkey project management team located on the Agua Branca site, São Paulo city, will coordinate all substation suppliers for this high voltage turnkey project. The project is due for commissioning in July 2014.
