Alstom successfully delivers 110 MW Chuzachen Hydro Electric Project in Sikkim

Alstom added another feather to its cap by successfully achieving the synchronization and full load of the two 55 MW units of the Chuzachen hydro power plant project located in east district of Sikkim on 24th April 2013. The commissioning of this project is a key achievement for Alstom, as it will serve as a strong reference for the hydro major in the region where it is executing three more hydro projects namely Teesta VI, Jorethang Loop HEP and Dikchu.
With a total of 110 MW, the 2 units have already been handed over officially to GATI Infrastructure who has also declared the start of the commercial operation on 16th May 2013.
Alstom was awarded the 110 MW Chuzachen HEP contract by Gati Infrastructure in 2007. The scope of work included turnkey execution of Electro-Mechanical package comprising of hydroturbines, generators, BOP (Balance of Plant) and auxiliaries. Alstoms Hydro unit based in Vadodara has executed the works for the project.
The Alstom Hydro unit at Vadodara has witnessed continuous growth in the recent years, and will continue to play a vital role in addressing the increased demand for reliable, clean and affordable energy in India and around the world. So far, Alstoms Hydro facility in Vadodara has supplied major Hydro Power generation equipment for various projects in India & abroad. So far two-third of the factorys existing capacity caters to the India region while one-third of the capacity caters to export markets.
