During a recent series of meetings with customers and employees in the U.S., Alstom Grid Sector President Gregoire Poux-Guillaume sat down with Philadelphia Inquirer reporter Andy Maykuth to discuss some of the exciting opportunities associated with the development of smart grid systems in the U.S. and across North America.

Greg explained how managing the flow of electricity is more complex than ever. Where power once flowed in one direction from centralized generating stations down to homes and businesses, those same homes and businesses are now able to generate their own power and push it back onto the grid. The advent of rooftop solar panels and residential wind turbines has turned the grid into a two-way electricity thoroughfare built on a network of micro-grids.

He also outlined Alstom Grid's presence in the United States, and how the company is working to expand its staff and activities in and around the City of Brotherly Love.
