In 2012, Alstom Hydro China delivered a significant number of operational excellence milestones, with a record number of 12 hydro units becoming operational. On 11th July 2012, the Group also announced the creation of a global technology centre (GTC) at  Alstoms new Tianjin industrial facility.

With a total installed capacity of 7.15 GW, each of the 12 units were designed and manufactured at the Tianjin facility, and successfully delivered to hydro power plants across Asia including: Ahai, Jinping 2, Nuozhadu, Son La and Xiangjiaba (featuring the biggest Francis turbine in the world with an output voltage of 23 kV) projects. The successful commissioning of these units highlights Alstoms execution capabilities, demonstrating their ability to deliver high quality products on time and even ahead of schedule. It also shows Alstoms continued commitment to delivering the latest technological advantages from their R&D hydro centres.

2012 is also a notable year for Alstom Hydro China due to the large-scale expansion of its facilities. Firstly, thanks to the construction of the global technology centre which started in July 2012, Alstom will become a full value chain entity in China. Alstom carries out a vast array of hydro activities, ranging from R&D, sales & marketing, engineering, sourcing, manufacturing, project management, installation maintenance and service. This reflects Alstoms commitment to develop locally managed teams to bring the latest and most proven technology closer to Chinese customers and to the Asia-Pacific region.

Secondly, 2012 marks the year of the extension and upgrading of the Tianjin facilities by Alstom Hydro China. After the new buildings have been completed in the spring of 2013; it will be Alstoms largest hydro facility worldwide aimed at addressing local, regional and export markets. Alstom will deliver and promote worldwide Researched, Designed and Made in China hydro products, from 20 MW to 1000 MW per unit, with the highest quality standards.

The new facility will also integrate Alstoms Corporate Social Responsibility dynamic with stringent Environment, Health and Safety processes to benefit the health and safety of employees, whilst minimizing the environmental impact of its industrial activities with a CO2 free and eco-design site. It will also educate the younger generations to protect the environment and limit our own personal footprint. In 2012, Alstom Hydro China was awarded and recognized as the Top-Safety Company by Tianjins Airport Economy Industrial Park.

Alstom is a leading supplier of hydro power generation equipment and systems in China. Over the past ten years, the Group has accumulated a 20% market share of the total Chinese installed capacity of large hydro equipment. Present for more than 17 years, Alstom has been actively engaging in technology transfer, modernization of industrial footprint, development of local resources as well as the promotion of renewable energy sources such as hydro power. Alstom places customers at the forefront of its priorities and ensures it delivers high quality products and services to meet customers requirements.

Alstom will continue to play a major role in developing hydro market in China and abroad while contributing to the social development inside and around its industrial site in Tianjin. This 2012 year of record is shared with the Chinese Authorities, our Customers, Partners and Employees. It paves the way for raising further up Alstoms contribution to Renewable Energy said Yves Rannou, General Manager of Alstom Hydro China.
