The World Energy Congress will take place from 13th-17th October 2013 in Daegu, South Korea. This landmark event in the Energy sector gathers leaders from across the world to discuss the key challenges facing the industry.

This year’s theme is “Securing Tomorrow’s Energy Today,” and will feature government ministers, chief executives and experts from around the world, with more than 250 speakers, including more than 50 ministers, from nearly 70 countries.

Alstom is a proud sponsor of the event and will have a number of opportunities to explain our vision of a sustainable energy future and how we can pave the way towards it. Philippe Cochet, President Thermal Power, will be speaking at a plenary session ‘Energy and Climate Scenarios: The Business Implications’, held on 14th October, at 17.15. Giles Dickson, VP Environmental Policies & Global Advocacy, will be taking part in a panel on ‘World coal outlook: Innovations for tomorrow’s energy’ on 14th October at 11.45.

Our speakers will be explaining how a diversified portfolio approach can address the need to reduce our impact on the environment and that much of the technology to do so is available today. Also, the WEC is a key event to highlight the action that needs to be taken to deliver sustainable energy and the need for stable long-term energy policies to encourage investment in affordable, environmentally friendly and flexible solutions.
