Alstom employee celebrates University appointment

A local Alstom employee has recently been appointed an Honorary Associate Professor by the University of Nottingham.
 
Senior Fellow Dr. Colin Oates, an employee at Alstom Grid in Stafford, is a globally recognised authority in the field of power electronics and has numerous links with the external Research and Development community.
 
Dr. Oates appointment recognises the support he has provided to the Power Electronics*, Machines and Control Research Group of the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at the University of Nottingham one of Europes leading research institutions in the field of power electronics.
 
As part of his new role, Dr. Oates will provide coordination between the research group at the university and the Alstom Grid R&D Department in Stafford as well as giving occasional lectures to both undergraduate and postgraduate students. This is a great honour from a world ranking research group and will help in cementing long standing relations between Alstom Grid and the University, said Dr Oates.

A substantial employer in the region, Alstom Grid at St Leonards Avenue, Stafford is set to recruit a further 125 people over the next three years.
