We look to Rio+20 to strengthen the dialogue and collaboration between government and industry, notably on how to leverage the huge amounts of private investment needed to deliver sustainable development and green growth throughout the global economy", said Philippe Delleur, SVP of International Network and President of Alstom Brazil.

With almost 700 million euros invested last year, R&D is a clear priority for Alstom, and an important effort in supporting skills development where we operate. The company provides complete Environment Control Systems (ECS) to thermal and industrial plants, with an important participation in Latin America. The main industrial plants of steel and paper production use Alstom equipment to avoid air pollution in the processes. Alstom develops its solutions for renewable power plants and has recently presented the biggest offshore wind turbine in the world "Haliade 150". This 6MW turbine equipped with a 150m rotor is able to provide electricity to 5,000 homes. Alstom is also focusing on smart grids to integrate these new sources of energy into the network and ensure their stability and reliability. Alstom continuously improves its sustainable mobility solutions. The Citadis tramway, Alstom flagman model, has been chosen by 34 cities in the world. With a capacity to transport as many passengers as 50 cars or three buses, Citadis is an environment-friendly product. It consumes 75% less energy per passenger than an electric bus and emits four times less noise than the traffic of vehicles.
