Alstom clean coal technology experts participated last week in a workshop designed to highlight the vital role of technology in ensuring that America's domestic coal supplies continue to be an economically and environmentally sustainable resource for power generation.

Alstom's participation in the event included a poster session and formal presentations on two cutting edge carbon-reducing technologies the Chilled Ammonia Process (CAP) for post-combustion CO2 capture from fossil fuel power plants and Chemical Looping Combustion (CLC) an advanced oxy-combustion power plant which incorporates CO2 capture.

The Showcase was sponsored by the Coal Utilization Research Council (CURC), an industry advocacy group that promotes the efficient and environmentally-sound use of coal.  Alstom is an active member of CURC, supporting CURCs mission to achieve these goals in a cost effective manner that promotes economic growth for the U.S.
