New contract marks latest step in collaboration with Forsmark Kraftgrupp AB to provide one-sixth of Swedens electricity

Alstom, a global leader in power generation equipment and services, today signed a five-year Long Term Service Agreement (LTSA) with Forsmark kraftgrupp AB, (FKA) to perform inspections, maintenance and commissioning of the steam turbines, generators and their surrounding systems on units 1-3 of the Forsmark nuclear power plant.

Located on Swedens east coast in the region of Uppland, Forsmark has a total power output of approximately 3,140MW supplying approximately one-sixth of the countrys electricity.

As the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) for the turbine islands of all three units at Forsmark, this LTSA marks an important milestone in Alstoms collaboration with FKA and demonstrates its ongoing contribution to Swedens nuclear industry, says Peter Jonsson, CEO at Alstom Power Sweden AB.

With the aim of improving operations at Forsmark, Alstoms organisations in Norrköping and Västerås will also supply a continuous workforce on site at the 30-year-old power plant to support FKA personnel with servicing components.

The LTSA follows a series of modernisation projects Alstom conducted at Forsmark. It will enable us to optimize our future maintenance and service activities for safe production.  By securing a high level of availability and low production costs on site, we are able to continue providing households in Sweden with 20-25 TWh of electricity annually, says Stefan Persson, CEO at Forsmark Kraftgrupp AB.
