New contract in Vietnam confirms Alstoms leading position in the Asian Hydropower Market

 Alstom and its consortium partner, Hydrochina Huadong Engineering Corporation, have signed a contract worth approximately 18 Million, with Vietnam Electricity (EVN), to provide electro-mechanical equipment and technical services for Song Bung 4 hydropower project in Vietnam. According to the contract, Alstom, the worlds leading supplier of hydropower equipment and its Chinese partner will provide two 78 MW Francis turbine-generator sets and related equipment (balance of plant) for this project. The scope of the contract covers the equipments design, engineering, manufacturing, installation, commissioning and testing.

Located 43 km from Danang city, Song Bung 4 Hydro Power Plant is one of the main hydropower projects on Vietnams Bung River. Once completed, the Song Bung 4 project, will be a significant contributor to supply power to the central area of Vietnam grid.

Manufactured at Alstoms hydropower brand new industrial facility in Tianjin (China), the first turbine unit is expected to be put in operation by 2014. Tianjin Alstom Hydro (TAH) is Alstoms largest hydropower manufacturing base and it is a leading supplier of equipment in China and across Asia.

Alstom has been a key player in the Vietnam hydro market for over 20 years. By participating in a number of prestigious hydro projects, such as Son La, Sesan 4, Huoi Quang, Hua Na Alstom is contributing significantly to the development of the Vietnamese power production, boosting the countrys economic development.
