The first project, which will be conducted in the city of Neiva, has been awarded by Electrificadora del Huila S.A. E.S.P., a company responsible for the distribution, commercialization and generation of power in Colombia. Under the terms of the contract, Alstom Grid will supply a new turnkey Gas-insulated substation, 115 kV, and will extend two existing ones to close the 115 kV ring of Neiva, capital of Huila Province. The substation will be commissioned in November 2012.

Another important contract was signed with Ecopetrol, a public company dedicated to the exploration and drilling of oil wells, for the supply and engineering of the Araguaney 115 kV Gas-insulated substation, part of the development of the new line of Bicentenario oil pipeline. At 960 km, its the biggest oil pipeline in Colombia. The new Alstom Grid substation will allow the oil sector to keep pace with increasing energy demands generated by high oil exports. Project completion is forecast for March 2013.

The expertise of our company in power transmission includes all levels of transformers for generation and interconnection, as well as autotransformers, capacitors, Smart Grid solutions, and many other products. The two contracts consolidate our presence in the Latin American market, where we have operated for over 50 years and, in particular, in Colombia, a country with great possibility of growth in the power area, says Juan Jorge Celis, Country President for Alstom Colombia.
