Safety briefings. Risk assessments. And stretching?

These are just a few aspects of daily life for employees at Alstoms boiler manufacturing facility in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Their goal? To adopt safety and healthy lifestyles as a way of life.

Four years ago, the team launched an effort to reshape their working culture around safety. Through commitment and dedication, they last week achieved a significant milestone in the history of a plant whose local heritage dates back more than 50 years  1,000 days without a loss-time accident!

To commemorate the occasion, the boiler facility hosted an open-house on Saturday, 6 October, where employees families learned about work that takes place at the plant and how that work is performed in as safe a manner as possible.

The Chattanooga community plays a major role in the boiler teams safety program. During the open-house, members of the Chattanooga Fire Department, Tennessee Highway Patrol and other groups provided safety demonstrations and tips on healthy living.

In a conversation with the Chattanooga Times-Free Press, Factory Director John Harkness explained the importance of Alstoms local partnerships and talked more about specific aspects of the boiler facilitys safety program. Click here to read his full interview.

Congratulations to the Chattanooga boilers team for putting safety first, and setting such a strong and positive example!
