  • Harnessing the Smart Grid Data Tsunami and Making Smarter Outage Predictions
  • Earth Shaking, Ground-breaking Distribution Restoration
  • BPAs Intermittent Renewable Load Following Pilot: A Case Study in Balancing Wind Energy with Fast Demand Response
  • Enabling Utility and Emergency Operations Collaboration with Open Interoperability Standards
  • Developing a Smart Grid Architecture: The First Step to Smart Grid
  • Meter Data Management: What is It? How Can I Use It?

Details on these sessions are available via the DistribuTECH conference website.

Every aspect of Alstoms participation in DistribuTECH, from the content displayed at our booth to the presentations being delivered, is 100% focused on addressing the needs and challenges of our customers, said Keith Stentiford, Alstom Grids North America Vice President. Smart Grids are opening a new era in the way people use electricity. Our goal is to help utilities manage this transition to cutting-edge technology while maximizing their ability to fully-leverage existing infrastructure and, at the end of the day, ensure the lights stay on.

The company also is leveraging its presence at Electric Light & Power Executive Conference preceding DistribuTECH to advance the identification and dissemination of industry best practices. Dr. Lawrence Jones, Vice President, Regulatory Affairs, Policy & Industry Relations will share insights from his recently completed report for the U.S. Department of Energy on challenges and realities of large-scale integration of variable energy sources. This report is the first of its kind to survey such a large sampling of global grid operators, and accounts for more than 72% of all wind generation capacity installed today.

Throughout the week, Alstom executives and experts will share their reactions to on-site discussions in a series of web video interviews available on the companys U.S. web space www.alstom.com/us.
