Major investment will reinforce Belforts position as a centre of excellence in large turbine manufacturing

Alstom is to invest over 9 million euros in new rotor manufacturing equipment at its Belfort factory. The equipment will have the capacity to manufacture rotors with very large dimensions, ie. up to 19 metres in length and 300 tonnes in weight.

This investment into-state-of-the-art technology will significantly reduce manufacturing time while improving operational ergonomics.

The factorys production capacity will be increased to over 20 large rotors per year. The equipment will also enable large generator rotor slotting at Belfort, improving the sites competitiveness in generator manufacturing.

This major investment will reinforce Belforts position as one of Alstoms leading sites for the production of large turbines and generators. It will support Alstoms development in the nuclear power market, both for new projects and retrofits,  said Philippe Brilloit, Belfort Factory Director.
