Reichshoffen (Alsace) was chosen as the location for the first ever video-mapping carried out on a train.

On 14 June, a 3D animation was projected onto the surface of the first Régiolis train to leave the workshops of Alstom's manufacturing site in front of an audience of 300 people, including representatives of regions throughout France, the SNCF and Alstom Transport, as well as journalists. Plunged into darkness, the guests watched a series of 3-D video sequences projected onto the train, showing its components and exterior design, as well as future liveries for use in different regions.

The new regional train was unveiled by Patrick Kron, Alstom's chairman and CEO, at a ceremony attended by Martin Malvy, vice president of the Association des Régions de France and SNCF president Guillaume Pepy. Part of Alstom’s Coradia Polyvalent product line, the Régiolis represents the latest generation of regional, single-level trains.
This contract for up to 1000 trains was entered into on behalf of the regions by Alstom and the SNCF on 27 October 2007. A total of 166 trainsets have been ordered to date by the regions of Alsace, Aquitaine, Auvergne, Basse-Normandie, Haute-Normandie, Lorraine, Midi-Pyrénées, Pays de la Loire, Picardie, Poitou-Charentes and Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur. These trainsets will be delivered between March 2013 and mid-2015.
The preliminary test phase is set to begin in late June, involving 10 trainsets in all, taking part in running trials throughout France.
