Guaporé Project forms fourth class and absorbs 60% of its workforce

IMMA (Amazon Metallurgical and Mechanical Industry), the first on-demand capital assets industry in northern Brazil and the result of a joint venture between Alstom and Bardella companies, will host the graduation party of its fourth Guaporé Project class, a local workforce capacitation program.

The ceremony will take place on the 30th of the month with the graduation of 150 students. 60% of these will already be hired by the company. The Guaporé Project has already educated more than a thousand people in less than three years work. IMMA stimulates the creation of new jobs and qualification for Rondônia, prioritizing the capacitation of local professionals. In addition to encouraging the generation of new jobs, we prioritize the preparation of the regional population for new professions, says Gustavo Almeida, IMMAs Human Resources manager.

Around 85% of IMMAs productive workforce is made up of professionals educated by the Guaporé Project in the fields of boilermaking, welding, blasting and painting. These professionals work in the manufacturing of important equipment for the main energy projects in the countrys northern region, such as the Santo Antônio and Belo Monte hydro power plants. In addition to these projects, we have a great work potential in other Latin American regions, adds Gustavo Almeida.

In partnership with SENAI, the Guaporé Project will open new classes soon for the capacitation of new professionals who will attend to Brazils great infrastructure works.

About IMMA With the aim of subsidizing the hydro-electricity projects of northern Brazil through the supply of hydro-mechanical and lifting equipment for this sectors enterprises in the Amazon, Alstom, a world leader in energy and transportation infrastructure, joined Bardella, a traditional national capital assets company with on-demand engineering, for the building of IMMA. With an investment of R$ 90 million, the construction, which was delivered in March 2010, is located in Porto Velho in the state of Rondônia and has a total area of 235,000 m2 and a constructed area of 33,000 m2. Equipped with tool machines, boilermaking area, shot blast and painting, the factory is capable of lifting 130 tons and producing 12,000 tons a year.
