Cottam achieve impressive five year EHS milestone

The Alstom Operations and Maintenance (O&M) team at Cottam have just passed the milestone of five years Lost Time Accident (LTA) Free at Cottam Power Station on the Coal and FGD Plants.

This is a team whose management and workforce are dedicated to following the right procedures, highlighting safety concerns, and openly reporting near misses. Their efforts through Alstom's Safety Improvement Program (SIP) to improve the quality of risk assessments, and through EDF's Safety Training Days to communicate a culture of questioning unsafe conditions and behaviours are ensuring that they do not become complacent.

Cottam O&M expend approximately 11,000 manhours each month and have completed in excess of 500,000 manhours since they started the contract there five years ago.

As Stephen Densley, Alstom Project Manager at Cottam states; "the team never stop striving to improve our safety performance at both procedural and behavioural levels. In this way we will aim to achieve each year being worked safely, with no lost time accidents."
