Alstom announces the appointment of new Head of Alstom Grid in China

On the occasion of the inauguration of Alstom Grid’s new China Technology Centre for Ultra High Voltage and Smart Grid related R&D in Shanghai, Henri Poupart-Lafarge, President of Alstom Grid, announced the appointment of Ferruccio Dianin as Vice-President of Alstom Grid in China. In this newly created position, Mr. Dianin’s responsibility is to manage and develop the Alstom Grid business in China.

Formerly the Vice-President of Alstom Grid’s Disconnectors Product Line, Mr. Dianin will take up his position in China at the beginning of April. He will be based in Beijing, China.

Ferruccio Dianin (丁言礼)

Born in 1945, Mr. Ferruccio Dianin holds a Diploma in Electro-Technics at the Guglielmo Marconi Technical Institute of Padua (1966). He was also honoured as Lieutenant during 2-years of military service in Italy.

Mr. Dianin has been a member of CEI (Italian Electromechanical Committee) Working Groups and a member of CIGRE Working Groups for the study of the Disconnector reliability in service.

Over the last 30 years, he has led the development and the design of all the Disconnectors in Alstom Grid’s portfolio also supporting the localisation in the Italian market of other high voltage equipment such as Circuit Breakers, Gas-insulated Substations, Instrument Transformers and Generator Circuit Breakers.

He was also actively involved in the introduction to the Chinese market of Alstom Grid’s high and ultra-high voltage Disconnectors, obtaining great success in recent years in terms of volume and reputation by the Chinese customers. In particular, he advanced localisation in China, creating three joint ventures with three Chinese partners in 2007 and 2008.

With his leadership and participation, Alstom Grid’s Disconnector business has reinforced its leading position in global market and obtained recognition for its market share, quality, innovation and reliability, under the well-recognised Alstom brand.
