Alstom Power has concluded an
agreement with Kanteleen Voima Oy on an air preheater modernisation at the Haapavesi
power plant in Northern Finland.
The modernisation includes removal of the old radial sealing system of
the air preheater plus engineering, materials (mechanical parts, electrical
actuators, measurement equipment) and installation of Alstom’s sensor
controlled radial sealing system.
This modernisation project will improve the energy efficiency of the
plant by significantly decreasing the direct air leakage from the air
preheater. The execution of this modernisation project will start in the
beginning of April 2011 and it will take 4 weeks at the site.
The Haapavesi power plant is built in 1989 and
owned by Kanteleen Voima Oy since December 2006. The owners, 25 Finnish energy
companies, acquired the plant to produce electricity for their customers. The
plant’s 390 MW boiler is burning mainly peat, additionally it can burn wood
about 20 %, and also reed canary grass.
Alstom has for several years participated in the maintenance of the plant’s peat grinders, conveyors and electrostatic
precipitator during the plant’s annual shutdown.
