A mock-up of the new Citadis trams destined for the network of Rouen was unveiled in March by Laurent Fabius, the leader of the CREA urban council.
Between spring and the end of 2012, 27 Citadis trams will gradually replace the old trams circulating on the network. Alstom won this contract to supply the new trams on 4 January 2010. The new trams are designed to counter the increase in traffic in the city and its suburbs: they will be able to carry 280 passengers versus 180 currently, thus carrying up to 40,000 additional passengers each day.
