The RATPs Citadis fleet comprises a total of 106
tramsets: 60 operating on the T2 tram line and 46 on the T3
line. The T3 lines excellent operating performance
(boasting an availability rate of 100%), together with the
equipments reliability, its optimized maintenance cost
and the heightened level of comfort offered by the Citadis
range, all helped convince the RATP to renew its confidence in
Alstom.

Citadis trams, designed to offer optimal quality of life on
board, feature platform-height floors, air conditioning, a
video-surveillance system, a passenger counting system, as well
as on-board audio and visual information. Wider seats on the
platforms and the more accessible door opening buttons are just
some of the improvements designed to facilitate circulation for
the mobility-impaired. Each tramset will be 44 metres in length
and accommodate over 300 passengers (including 78 seated
passengers), the equivalent of the capacity of three
buses¹ .

Citadis also makes a real contribution to environmental
protection. Not only is it 98% recyclable, but with its
composite materials and improved traction system it also
consumes 10% less energy than a traditional tram. A Citadis
uses four times less energy than a bus and 10 times less than a
car in kWh per seated passenger. It also improves the quality
of life in a city it is four times quieter than motor
traffic, generating about five decibels less noise. The RATP
will be receiving trams that have proven their value on the
market. In fact, the Citadis tramway is now a global benchmark
for performance. To date, a total of 1,431 Citadis trams have
been ordered by 34 cities around the world, while a further 60
cities have tramway projects in the pipeline.
