This opening added 11 stations to the 5 already in
operation. When it comes into full operation next year, the
Circle Line tunnels will be 33-kilometre long and its trains
will carry some 200,000 passengers a day.

This project is part of a turnkey contract awarded to
Alstom in 2002. At the 2010 Transport Excellence Awards
ceremony, which rewards outstanding contributions to the
citys land transport network, Alstom and its partner STE
(Singapore Technologies Electronics) were given the Best
Infrastructure Project Managers award for their role in
the Circle Line metro project, by the LTA (Land Transport
Authority, the Singapore transport authority).
