Electric atmosphere in Majorca

A total of 73 km of overhead catenaries running on 1,500 V
DC will be installed between Son Rullan and Enllaç by
March 2011. The contract includes engineering works and setting
up poles, cantilevers (the beams that support the overhead
catenaries) and various wire.

Previously, the network was not powered and relied on diesel
trains. Electrifying it will reduce by half (at
least) atmospheric and sound pollution, generate over 25%
of energy savings and improve safety.
