Alstom has 4 technology centres in Spain: one in Madrid, which has been visited today by Concepción Gutiérrez del Castillo, and others in Barcelona, León and Linares.   Concepción Gutiérrez del Castillo, Secretary of State for Transport at the Ministry for Urban Development, has visited Alstom Transport's technology centre for railway signalling in Spain this week, accompanied by the company's president in Spain, Antonio Oporto, and the General Manager of the railway transport division, Antonio Moreno. With this visit, the Secretary of State for Transport intended to get a closer look at Alstom Transport's railway signalling activities in Spain. Some of the technologies necessary for the specific functional and operational needs of the Spanish railway system are being developed at this centre; in particular, the ERTMS interlocking systems and signalling for sections with a third power rail, such as those of Girona-Figueres and Castellbisbal-Can Tunis. Alstom's investment commitment in Spain in the field of signalling has generated projects of maximum technological relevance. More than 140 interlocking systems have been supplied since 1998, including that of Chamartin, the largest of the entire Adif network, and that of Castellbisbal, one of the more complex railway junctions. Alstom's signalling unit in Spain encompasses 4 technology centres located in Madrid, Barcelona, León and Linares, with more than 200 workers, of which approximately 85% are engineers and highly qualified technicians who carry out engineering, testing, installation and development laboratory work.
