The SMART GRID SEMINAR was held on 28 April 2010 in Andorra. This seminar was organised by Areva T&D Ibérica¹, with the collaboration of ASEME. This association, based in Barcelona, brings together 44 national electric utility companies.

FEDA offered this great opportunity to present in situ at its facilities the e-Terra Control Platform and the Hypact compact integrated module, both by Areva T&D.

The companies attending the event, mostly electric companies members of ASEME, were shown in situ the solutions and advantages of the Areva T&D products. Specifically, they were shown the e-Terra Control Platform and its SCADA, as well as the multiple possibilities of these systems for adapting to the requirements of each client.

Jordi Dejuan, Exploitation Director of FEDA, made a very positive assessment of the implementation of these systems in his company and the results obtained. He declared that they are very technologically advanced systems that have been successfully implemented in Europe, the United States, Asia and the Middle East.

On the other hand, the hybrid-integrated compact high voltage module by Areva T&D was installed in FEDA's substation at Encamp two years ago due to the pressing need for installing a complete high voltage post within limited space. The companies attending the seminar also had the opportunity to see and verify this equipment in situ, the great advantage of which is its small size, providing low maintenance and great reliability.

1 On 8 June 2010, Alstom introduced its new sector, Alstom Grid, after its acquisition of the transmission and power electronics activities of Areva T&D.
