The RTA is scheduled to unveil this spring this mock-up. The
Alstom/Besix consortium led by Alstom signed a contract worth
more than €550 million for phase 1 of the project in
2008, involving the supply of 11 Citadis trams, together with
the construction of a 10 km long track and 13 stations.

Citadis trams as well as the whole line will be fitted with a
ground-level power supply system (APS). Automatic platform
screen safety doors will be used to keep the stations
air-conditioned. The tramway will also be equipped with the
Urbalis system, which is used to manage speed and protect road
interchanges. Dubai is the first city in the Middle-East to
acquire an Alstom tramway system.
