In July 2009, Alstom Grid signed orders for power systems and equipment worth approximately $250 million for the Gorgon Project operated by Chevron Australia Pty Ltd.

The scope of AREVA T&Ds orders covers containerized substations for the projects electrical system, including 132 kV gas-insulated substations (GIS), medium voltage switchgear, low voltage switchgear and motor control centers, a range of power and distribution transformers and other equipment such as medium voltage GIS and ring main units.

The Gorgon Project is operated by the Australian subsidiary of Chevron (approximately 47 percent) in joint venture with the Australian subsidiaries of ExxonMobil (25 percent) and Shell (25 percent), Osaka Gas (1.25 percent), Tokyo Gas (one percent) and Chubu Electric (0.417 percent).

Engineering and project management will be provided by Alstom Grids systems experts in Homebush Bay, Sydney. Transmission and distribution products, such as switchgear and power transformers, will be delivered out of Alstoms factory in Rocklea, Brisbane.

Commenting on AREVA T&Ds contribution to this high profile project, Graham King, Country Sales Director, said, Alstom Grids involvement in the Gorgon Liquefied Natural Gas project confirms our ability to offer competitive integrated electrical solutions for the Oil & Gas industry.
