Tramway returns to Toulouse after nearly 50 years

The tramset, which was designed by Airbus and Alstom,
travelled about 500 metres on the future Line E test track.

It was driven from Blagnac to Beauzelle by the Mayor of
Toulouse, Pierre Cohen, who welcomed the “grand return of
the tram, which has been absent from the city since
1957”.

The contract - entered into in April 2006 - provides for the
supply of 24 Citadis tramsets and their maintenance over a
five-year period. Deliveries will extend into 2010.
