The aim of the testing is to examine all the dynamic
characteristics of the new metro that influence the
passenger’s travel experience and safety, particularly
during acceleration and deceleration phases. As part of the
tests therefore, the transition between the electro dynamic
brakes and pneumatic brakes, the operation of the power supply
system, the air-conditioning, the doors, the passenger
information system as well as the train control system will be
examined at different load factor and speed levels.

This prototype will run 1.000 kilometers on the test tracks of
BKV, prior to the entry into commercial service of the 1st
Metropolis metro vehicle on the M2 line in the 4th quarter of
2009. In parallel with the dynamic test taking place in
Budapest, endurance tests are carried out on another metro
vehicle in Valenciennes, France. During these tests, the
vehicle runs 14.000 km all together.
