The match provided an opportunity for Alstom to raise the
associations profile. As part of its diversity policy,
Alstom chose to invite URAPEDA to the match held at the
Astroballe stadium in Villeurbanne. Around a hundred deaf and
hearing-impaired people and members of URAPEDA Rhône-Alpes
attended the match, which was won 103-98 by the team from
Villeurbanne.

URAPEDA Rhône-Alpes is a federation of 11 area
organizations working to encourage the integration of deaf and
hearing-impaired people into society and the workplace. Alstom
Transport has supported locally the association since the end
of 2007. It was created in 1994 by families wishing to change
attitudes to deaf and hearing-impaired people, and it currently
provides support to 500 people in the region.

* URAPEDA is affiliated at a national level to the ANPEDA
Federation (the French association of parents of
hearing-impaired children).
