King Albert II of Belgium inaugurated the Petite
Ceinture of the Brussels metro

Alstom Transport provided the signalling system with the
latest-generation technologies and incorporated 600 units of
its train detection system all along the network. In the Gare
de l’Ouest metro station, it installed Smartlock 400
interlocking computerised control units to remotely manage the
ground infrastructure (light signals, turnouts etc.).

The Charleroi worldwide centre of excellence for signalling,
together with the STIB**, has equipped most of Brussels’
metro stations with signalling equipment for over 20 years.
