The Brattle Group Report on the implications for Carbon Capture and Storage

Alstom commissions The Brattle Group to look at the implications of the EUs Climate and Energy 2020 Package for Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) technology over the next two decades. 

CCS is central to meeting EU energy goals, especially the EUs longer term (2030) greenhouse gas emissions targets but on the basis of current carbon prices and their likely levels in 2020, markets alone are unlikely to bring forward investment in CCS before 2020.

We must urgently establish international demonstration projects so that they can start delivering results quickly, showing how to drive down costs and prepare CCS for commercial deployment.
